We’ve been hearing about Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt’s sci-fi drama, Passengers, for a year and a half and now, after months and months of waiting, the first pictures from the film have finally been released.
Until now, we knew very little about the movie, aside from the cast and a brief description of the plot. In Passengers, Lawrence and Pratt play the only two people awake on a space craft, where 5,000 other passengers are sleeping in suspended animation—but then the ship starts to malfunction (because of course it does) and they have to save the day, the 5,000 sleeping people and themselves.
Entertainment Weekly premiered two images from the upcoming film, and we’re more excited than ever to see it. TBH, they had us at Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, but these new pictures have us very intrigued. In the first, Pratt and Lawrence look through an opening of some kind. What are they staring at? We can’t be sure, but we definitely want to find out.
Joel Edgerton is in early talks to join Jennifer Lawrence in Fox’s spy thriller “Red Sparrow.” Frances Lawrence is directing the film which Fox has already dated for Nov. 10, 2017.
The film is based on the Jason Matthews novel of the same name. Justin Haythe re-wrote the script, originally by Eric Warren Singer. Steve Zaillian is producing with Chernin Entertainment and Garrett Basch is exec produer.
The book is set in modern-day Russia in the intelligence bureaucracy with a young woman drafted against her will to become a “sparrow,” a trained seductress assigned to operate against a first-tour CIA officer who handles the agency’s most sensitive penetration of Russian intelligence. The two young intelligence officers fall into a spiral of attraction and deception that results in her leading life as a double agent.
Jennifer Lawrence: inspiration to many. For one, “Star Trek Beyond” co-writer and star Simon Pegg, who revealed in a press conference Thursday that the new character Jaylah, was inspired by Lawrence in the film “Winter’s Bone.”
“We were trying to create this very independent character. But we didn’t have a name for it,” Pegg said. “So we just called it ‘Jennifer-Lawrence-In-Winter’s-Bone.’”
“That’s a long name,” the writer and actor joked. “So it started getting tiring always saying, well Jennifer-Lawrence-In-Winter’s-Bone is fighting here. So then we started calling her J-Law. And then she became Jaylah.”
In the film, Jaylah is played by Sofia Boutella. Pegg said in the same press conference that she is a welcome addition to the “Star Trek” crew.
“We love Sofia, she’s a nutcase and a golden edition to this group,” he said. “There are not a lot of girls in Star Trek. Zoe [Saldana as Uhura] has a lot on her shoulders.”
Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Saldana return for “Star Trek Beyond,” directed by Justin Lin.
Earlier this month it was revealed that John Cho’s character, Sulu, would be the film franchise’s first openly gay character. Pegg and Lin made the decision as a nod to George Takei, who played Sulu in “Star Trek: The Original Series.”
Variety critic Owen Gleiberman wrote in his review that Lin “brings his bravura action energy and a certain nostalgic flair” to the film, although he, “unboldly goes where too many have gone before.”
Jennifer Lawrence can finally feel vindicated following a painful experience when she was the victim of hacking. Andrew Helton, the man who plead guilty to hacking Jennifer Lawrence, Gabrielle Union, Kate Upton, Hope Solo, as well as others’ personal accounts, over two years ago, has been sentenced to six months in prison for the offense.
As The Hollywood Take reminds, Helton eventually admitted to hacking into hundreds of email accounts and to stealing 161 “nude and explicit photos” from 13 different victims. Following his six-month sentence, Helton will then serve two years of supervised release after leaving prison.
The crimes were referred to as a hacking scandal, yet Jennifer Lawrence was outraged by the whole ordeal that she states is not a scandal but a “sex crime.” The actress spoke to Vanity Fair.
“It is not a scandal. It is a sex crime. It is a sexual violation. It is disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change.”
Lawrence then went on to accuse anyone who viewed the nude photos that Helton shared of being guilty by association.
“[A]nybody who looked at those pictures, you’re perpetuating a sexual offense. You should cower with shame. Even people who I know and love say, ‘Oh, yeah, I looked at the pictures.’ I don’t want to get mad, but at the same time I’m thinking, I didn’t tell you that you could look at my naked body.”
Although Helton was the most well-known hacker in the scandal, there were others who were also able to access the same stars’ accounts two years ago.
Ryan Collins was another who plead guilty back in March and then entered a plea deal. The publication reminds of the activity which led Collins to compromise the personal information and pictures of the various celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence.
“Collins pled guilty to one count of unauthorized access to a protected computer to get information. He is serving an 18-month sentence. He would send e-mails that looked like they came from Apple or Google to victims warning them that their accounts were compromised and asking for their account details. He would then download their emails and iCloud backups.”
The hackers became worldwide news back in August of 2014 and shocked people with their abilities that led to hacking into celebrities’ iClouds, leaking almost 500 private pictures involving many of the said nude photos. As Vanity Fair shared back when the scandal was uncovered, the hackers chose to post the photos on several sites, including 4Chan, Reddit, Twitter, and Tumblr.
At the time, Lawrence admitted to being terrified that the pictures which were hacked and shared of her in the nude would affect her rocketing career.
“I was just so afraid,” Jennifer now says. “I didn’t know how this would affect my career.”
The crimes sparked an F.B.I investigation and the culprits have since been brought to justice, yet the victims of the hacks will likely always be affected by the senseless acts.

Jennifer Lawrence makes a cheerful entrance during her appearance on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, airing on Monday (May 23).
The 25-year-old X-Men: Apocalypse actress appeared on that night’s episode alongside Jimmy and Last Week Tonight host John Oliver.
Jennifer Lawrence presented Robert De Niro with a GLAAD Media Awards honour last night (May 14).
De Niro was awarded the Excellence in Media award and opening her excellent heartfelt speech, Lawrence joked: “Robert De Niro is not gay, so I don’t know why we’re here.”
She continued: “The most important thing he’s taught all of us is acceptance. Bob is the kindest person I’ve ever met.
“His heart is so giving and with his own quiet strength, it’s no wonder that this man and the incredible organisation that is GLAAD would come together tonight.”

Jennifer Lawrence has admitted that she once had a seriously embarrassing encounter with actor Harrison Ford. The X-Men: Apocalypse star reveals on The Graham Norton Show tomorrow night that she was left red-faced after the Indiana Jones actor failed to recognise her. Jennifer was enjoying a night out with British comedian Jake Whitehall when she spotted Harrison and director JJ Abrams at the same club.
She told Graham Norton: “I probably humiliated myself more than ever before.” “I never assume anyone knows who I am, but when I spotted Harrison Ford and JJ Abrams I was like, ‘It’ll be fine, we’re all co-workers, right!'”
“So I went up to them and started dancing like an idiot.” Sadly for the Oscar winner, none of Harrison’s table realised who she was and instead appeared to assume she was just a crazed fan. “The whole table just went quiet and stared at me.” “I realised while I am dancing that they had absolutely no idea who I was so I just turned around and walked back to Jack dying of embarrassment.” She added: “Later (Ford) wrote to me because someone with a 12-year-old must have told him who I was!” To add insult to injury, Harrison did end up recognising Jack as the pair of them had recently done a show together. The comedian said: “Jen had just been blanked and I was like, ‘Hey, it’s alright, I’ll go and say hi to Harrison,’ and everyone was like, ‘Jack, don’t do this. It will be humiliating.’
“I get up and walk over thinking, ‘Oh God, maybe he won’t remember me and I’m going to be humiliated too.'” He added: “And literally as I walked over he stood up and shouted, ‘Hey, Jack!’ It was so funny.”

X-Men: Apocalypse will be the last time Jennifer Lawrence plays the blue-tinged, femme fatale, Mystique, in the superhero franchise. For her last press stint at London’s BFI Imax, the star chose a showstopping dress fit for her final hurrah.
Lawrence, 25, greeted London’s grey skies (so long heatwave!) in a pale silver satin dress with keyhole neckline and cut-out side panels. The daring gown fastened in a halterneck style before criss-crossing down her back, and revealing silver platforms through a bold hem slit. A fire engine red lip and tousled waves finished the ensemble, which was likened to the signature style of Marilyn Monroe on Twitter.

As if it wasn’t clear enough already, Jennifer Lawrence is someone you want on your side. In a new clip from the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, Lawrence’s Raven — a.k.a. Mystique — attends a fight, but takes a break to knock a gross security guard out presumably to help rescue Nightcrawler.
“Did you get lost little mouse?” the guard asks her before she slams him in the face with her elbow, sending him straight to the ground. That’s one way to get a guy out of your way.
Watch the clip below taken from Jennifers Facebook, and see X-Men: Apocalypse when it arrives in theaters May 27.
