The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence has admitted that she does not find fame appealing.
The actress – who plays Katniss Everdeen in the film series – recalled to Vogue UK that she was terrified of how her life would change on the day The Hunger Games was released.
“I was really upset the day that The Hunger Games came out. I was shaking all day wrapped in a blanket,” she admitted, adding: “[I remember a friend saying,] ‘Dude, have you seen what they’ve done to Britney Spears?'”
Lawrence further explained that she now has a more relaxed attitude towards celebrity, but does take the responsibility of fame seriously.
“There’s a responsibility I’m aware of… In one sense, luckily, it comes naturally because I don’t stay out beyond midnight,” she noted.
“I don’t really have an exciting life… It’s funny, my friends were joking about how I was so not the person who’s in charge of taking turns to go in the hot tub. I just appear that way.”The star recently suggested that celebrities are treated much better in the UK than they are in the US.
Lawrence returns to the role of Katness Everdeen for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, released in cinemas in November 2013.
Digital Spy breakfast show – watch Catriona Wightman discuss the day’s biggest stories including Adele, Emmerdale and Kylie Minogue:
Jennifer Lawrence is the latest Hollywood actress to have her name thrown into the ring for the “50 Shades of Grey” movie. Of course, some fans are thinking the “Hunger Games” star may have a chance to be cast as the girl next door turned vixen, Anastasia Steele, BooksnReview.com reported on Oct. 15.
While “Hunger Games” fans may love to see their heroine cast in the sexy role, it’s not likely to happen. While “50 Shades of Grey” continues to surge in popularity, the movie is becoming more anticipated than ever. Movie execs need two faces of the franchise, and Lawrence is already the face of the “Hunger Games” franchise.
This means that Jennifer Lawrence isn’t likely to be considered for the role, in addition to Kristen Stewart, who is the face of the “Twilight” franchise. However, the “50 Shades of Grey” movie still has a plethora of actresses to choose from, including Mila Kunis, who’s rumored to be front runner.
“50 Shades of Grey” fans are growing impatient while waiting for the casting announcement. Hopefully, the end result is worth the wait, or E.L. James can expect major backlash against the film.
It is being reported by the blog In Contention, a Hitfix blog that specifically covers the Academy Awards, that Warner Brothers has decided to place Anne Hathaway as a lead actress contender for ‘Dark Knight Rises’ as opposed to Supporting Actress. This way, Hathaway will no longer be competing against herself for her supporting role in ‘Les Miserables’, which many critics say she is a lock for. Many people have previously spoken up about the low probability of any Dark Knight Rises actors getting an Oscar nomination for their roles, but they did mention that if anyone had a chance, it was Hathaway for her dark and exciting performance as Selina Kyle. Prominent Oscar blogger Sasha Stone wrote on the topic of Dark Knight Rises’ chances for an acting nomination, saying, “If there is going to be one, it will most likely be [Hathaway]. True, everyone thinks ‘Les Miz’ will be her big Oscar grab, and it probably will be but — that doesn’t take away the fact that she’s still the film’s best shot at an acting nod.”However, the lead actress category is shaping up to be a tough one this year, with Jennifer Lawrence getting extremely strong buzz for TIFF’s People’s choice award winner ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, and Keira Knightley also getting strong advance buzz for her role in tragi-romance ‘Anna Karenina’. Critics mention that Lawrence is almost a shoo-in for a lock for lead, but it’s a tougher proposition for Hathaway for ‘Dark Knight Rises’. However, it’s pretty much a given that we will see Hathaway one way or another at the Oscars next February, most likely for ‘Les Miserables’.
Jennifer Lawrence had a ‘scary’ upbringing. The 22-year-old actress grew up on a horse farm in Louisville, Kentucky, and says her chaotic countryside childhood helped make her a tough and independent person.
When probed about her early memories, Jennifer said: ‘It was happy [but also] scary, sweary and loud, where everyone had a bit of a drinking problem and everyone screams at each other, but it was real fun.
‘My brothers used to throw their soup at me and drag me round the house by my hair and then pretend they didn’t. Bland families, urgh. I hate them.’
The ‘Hunger Games’ actress insists she doesn’t take her work too seriously and can’t help but crack jokes even during the filming of intense scenes. She told Britain’s Vogue magazine: ‘I’m just like this idiot girl who doesn’t even know what she’s doing… I can’t stand this bulls**t – even if it’s real. Like, it’s just a job right, and if you can’t say a ‘who farted?’ joke in an emotional scene… I mean, come on!
‘Let’s just all hang out together! Let’s relax! We all fart, right?’
Jennifer thinks there’s nothing worse than shy people and says she has no patience for anyone who can’t even make small talk with her. She said: ‘Oh, I can’t stand shy people. Like, make it up already. Ask about the weather, don’t stare at your plate and make me feel like I’m making you uncomfortable!’
“Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence may be a little curvier than your average Hollywood ingenue, but she’s happy with her physique and says it’s the fat-shaming weight critics who have the problem, not her.
“It’s hilarious, the way I’m supposedly the overweight one [in Hollywood],” Lawrence told the November 2012 issue of Vogue UK. “Like, they got me at the movies yesterday and the [photo] caption read something like, ‘Curvy star cannot wait to dig into tub of popcorn.’ I mean, Come on!”
Amazingly, Jennifer was criticized as too meaty for the role of heroine Katniss Everdeen in the “Hunger Games.” In March 2012, Manohla Dargis of the “New York Times” remarked that Lawrence wasn’t thin enough to convincingly play the part of a starving teen.
Dargis wrote: “A few years ago Ms. Lawrence might have looked hungry enough to play Katniss, but now, at 21, her seductive, womanly figure makes a bad fit for a dystopian fantasy about a people starved into submission.”
The athletic 5-foot-7 Jennifer says it’s these types of comments and its influence on the perpetuation of the size-zero celebrities idealized in pop culture today that foster an unhealthy body image that damages young women’s self-esteem.
“I’m so tired of the lollipops,” says Lawrence, referring to underweight women with gaunt bodies attached to oversized “lollilop” heads. “I’m just a normal girl who likes to eat.”
Jennifer recalls that she and her friends grew up idolizing scary-skinny celebrities because they made headlines for being so thin.
“I remember when I was 13 and it was cool to pretend to have an eating disorder because there were rumors that Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie were anorexic,” Lawrence told Seventeen. “I thought it was crazy.”
Jennifer, who grew up in Louisville, Ky., says it’s important for girls to have positive fitness role models. “I think it’s really important for girls to have people to look up to and to feel good about themselves,” she said. “[I’m] so sick of these young girls with their [crazy] diets.”
Jennifer is currently filming “Catching Fire,” the sequel to the blockbuster hit, “The Hunger Games.”
Welcome, welcome to the newest Jennifer Lawrence source to the net! My name is Aniek and I worked hard over the last couple of weeks to build a brand new source for Jennifer. I am a fan since Jennifer since her stunning performance in Winter’s Bone, but my fandom grew and grew after seeing The Hunger Games. I am still adding tons of new stuff to the site, like pics and media. A Video Archive is on it’s way.

Jennifer Lawrence has a fashionable new gig, and there’s no bow and arrow required.
Of course, the Hunger Games’ star still plans to rough it up—Katniss-style—on the big screen when Catching Fire hits theaters in November 2013, but fans will also get to see the beauty’s softer side, as she’s just been announced as the face of Miss Dior.
Lawrence will appear in the new Spring/Summer 2013 Miss Dior handbag advertising campaign, which will debut worldwide in March 2013. This collaboration marks the first time the Academy Award nominee has partnered with a luxury brand.
“It’s such a dream to represent an iconic brand that is synonymous with high fashion.” Lawrence said in a statement. “I’m so excited to be working with the fashion house and wear the new creations by Raf Simons. His most recent haute couture and ready-to-wear collections glamorously capture the modern era at Dior.”
Jennifer is following in the footsteps of past Dior beauties like Mila Kunis and Marion Cotillard, and clearly Simons believes the Winter’s Bone star is the perfect babe to represent the brand:
“Like the whole world I first discovered Jennifer Lawrence as a young action hero,” said Simons in a statement. “I was, of course, struck by her unbelievable onscreen presence in these “larger than life” movies, but I was equally impressed by her powerful portrayal of more emotional and complex characters. Her youth and her classic beauty, but also the feminine strength and complexity that she can portray at such a young age are, for me, very unique and very appealing.”
And lucky for Simmons, J.Law is already a pro at donning Dior—she recently flaunted her currently brunette locks in a goth-glam dress by the famed designer at the Toronto Film Festival.
Talk about a little Dior diva already!
Rocking the standard side braid, Jennifer Lawrence was spotted on the Atlanta set of “Catching Fire” this afternoon (October 12).
The 22-year-old donned her full Katniss Everdeen garb and joined her “Hunger Games” co-stars and got to work on brand new scenes.
In related news, Miss Lawrence was recently named the new face of the Miss Dior handbag collection.
Although she’s an A-list star, Jennifer still stays humble and said, ““it’s such a dream to represent an iconic brand that is synonymous with high fashion.”
