Jennifer Lawrence will be the first “Saturday Night Live” host of 2013. NBC announced during tonight’s (December 15) “Saturday Night Live” that Lawrence will have her first stint as “SNL” host on the January 19 episode.
An Oscar nominee for “Winter’s Bone” and star of the blockbuster “Hunger Games” feature, Lawrence can currently be seen in “Silver Linings Playbook” in a role that has earned her Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. By January 19, Lawrence will also likely have an Oscar nomination from “Silver Linings Playbook.”
Lawrence will be paired with The Lumineers on the January 19 episode. Also making their first “SNL” appearance, The Lumineers’ self-titled debut album dropped in April. They were just nominated for Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Americana Album.
You’ve heard their single “Ho Hey” on TV shows including “Bones,” “Hart of Dixie” and “The Vampire Diaries.” Coincidentally, “Ho Hey” has also been used in the trailer for “Silver Linings Playbook.”
Thanks to her Hunger Games training, Jennifer Lawrence is already a skilled archer — but it won’t help her come Christmas.
Speaking to the U.K.’s The Guardian from the Hawaii set of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the Golden Globe nominee, 22, said she’ll be spending the holiday with her family in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.
“My brother just told me in an e-mail that we’re all going to go clay pigeon shooting,” Lawrence said. “He found this place where they let you shoot clay pigeons and then give you dinner afterwards. He’s real excited about it. We’ve never done it before.”
Lawrence added, “I don’t know what his shooting skills are like — I’m sure they’re better than mine. I’m going to have to bring my bow and arrow.”
The California-based star admitted she doesn’t consider the Bluegrass State her home anymore. “It’s where my family lives and it’s where I grew up,” she explained. “But I don’t know. These days I spend most of my time flipping between London and L.A.” (Lawrence’s boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult, lives in his native England.)
“I love London. I love the layout of the city and I love that it’s not Manhattan or L.A.,” the Silver Linings Playbook standout tells The Guardian. “In L.A., people are only interested in your job and how much money you make. In London that doesn’t matter so much. People know that there are other things to talk about.”

From heartwarming to quirky to absolutely ecstatic, the celebs always have lots to say on SAG day, so let’s take a look at what stars like Jennifer Lawrence, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Alec Baldwin and more are saying!
Jennifer Lawrence, Silver Linings Playbook: “It’s so rewarding to have fellow actors recognize my work with this nomination, and to be included in the company of the talented women nominated this year. Finding a great female character to portray is a very fulfilling experience, and I had that with Silver Linings Playbook, and in working David O. Russell and Bradley Cooper. So I guess all that terrible dancing was worth it?”

David O. Russell has been praising his ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ leading lady Jennifer Lawrence for her emotional maturity and powerful skill set as an actress.
When screening the movie recently at the Landmark theater in Los Angeles, he spoke about how Lawrence wasn’t even an initial contender for the role, saying, “Quite frankly, it was like a formality. I didn’t think she was really a contender. We had three very serious contenders (already). We had a lot of major actresses in town interested in the role, from Angelina Jolie to some other big stars, because it’s a dimensional role for a young woman. Jennifer we frankly thought was too young” — until she pointed the tiny camera at herself at her parents’ home in Kentucky.
He adds, “She kind of has an ageless quality about her, which is remarkable,” said Russell. “Harvey (Weinstein) said, ‘Isn’t she too young?’ I said, ‘I don’t know, she could be 20, she could be 40. Look for yourself’— and I showed him the Skype (audition), and he said ‘Wow.’ So that was a blessing for us to find our Tiffany. She came onto the set saying to Bradley Cooper, ‘Wow, what’s it like for people to take pictures of you?’ By the end of the shoot [last November], I think she knew for herself. Now she can’t get rid of people taking pictures of her.

Jennifer Lawrence is emerging as young Hollywood’s next “It Girl,” surpassing Kristen Stewart, who held sway at the top of the A-List during the long run of the “Twilight” movie saga. Lawrence is smarter, prettier… and a better actor.
Lawrence and Stewart are comparable in so many ways. Both are 22 and both have been acting from a relatively young age, although Stewart was born into a Hollywood family.
Lawrence was born and raised in Louisville, KY, but persuaded her parents to take her to New York when she was 14 to find an agent so she could pursue acting.
Even so, she still managed to graduate high school two years early with a 3.9 gpa. Stewart dropped out of junior high school.
Her big breakthrough, of course, came in “The Hunger Games.” She played the heroine Katness Everdeen in the 2012 fantasy movie about a post-apocalyptic society that pits 24 teenagers against each other every year in a fight-to-the-death as a tribute to the central government.
The movie raise her profile, but her acting skills were demonstrated by her stunning performance in 2010′s “Winter’s Bone.” Her latest film “The Silver Linings Playbook” debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival to stellar critical reviews. It’s set to hit theaters Nov. 21.
She stars with Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver. In the touching romantic comedy, she and Cooper play two down-on-their-luck people who find each other and suddenly discover the silver linings behind the dark clouds in their lives.
Stewart’s latest movie, “On the Road,” also was screened at the festival to mixed reviews, and she damaged her fan base and image over the summer when her secret affair with married Director Rupert Sanders was exposed by a tabloid.
The source of Stewart’s popularity, “Twilight” is winding down with the last movie in the series, “Breaking Dawn, Part 2″ set to open this month. Lawrence will star in at least two more “Hunger Games” sequels. Both are in demand for fashion features.
Lawrence will cover the December issue of Elle magazine, after appearing in November’s British Vogue. Check out her photo spread above, and click here to follow TheImproper on Twitter for more Jennifer Lawrence updates.
‘She’s so scared of ghosts that she won’t even look in a mirror out of fear she might see one’
Jennifer Lawrence may play a tough girl on screen in ‘The Hunger Games’, but she’s revealed that in real life she’s a scaredy cat. She’s so scared of ghosts that she reportedly can’t be in her house alone and refuses to look in mirrors in case she sees one!
The 22-year-old actress has become one of Hollywood’s biggest stars since playing Katniss Everdeen in ‘The Hunger Games’, and she’s certainly a confident young woman.
But it’s now been revealed that despite all that, she gets lonely easily and refuses to be in the house alone for fear of otherwordly creatures.
“She hates living alone,” a source told Star magazine.
“She’s so scared of ghosts that she won’t even look in the mirror out of fear she might see one behind her,” the source said.
Jennifer moved from her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky to Los Angeles in order to pursue her career, and being so far from home is reportedly very difficult for the star.
Her new role in horror film ‘House at the End of the Street’ isn’t helping matters – she put on a brave face the movie, but she’s normally petrified of such scary flicks:
“In real life I’m terrified of horror movies. If I want to watch one, I have to plan out the next three months of my life, because I’ll know I’m going to be afraid of everything – afraid of the dark, afraid of elevators, afraid of my shadow,” she told more! magazine.
From the look on her face, Jennifer Lawrence probably didn’t feel the need for a bow and arrow. In fact, the actress was all smiles while hanging out with a few frightening friends at the Netherworld Haunted House in Atlanta on Monday.
