Jennifer Lawrence brings Joy to the world: First poster is unveiled

The poster for Jennifer Lawrence’s upcoming movie, Joy, has been unveiled.
The 24-year-old actress is the only person on the poster, in which she looks up at falling snowflakes while wearing sunglasses.
Written and directed by David O. Russell, 56, Jennifer plays the title role in the film about Joy Mangano, a real-life inventor and entrepreneur. Although they do not appear on the poster, the names of two of Jennifer’s co-stars – 72-year-old Robert De Niro and 40-year-old Bradley Cooper – receive billing along with the leading lady in the new artwork.
Joy takes place over several decades but focuses on the title character’s transformation from desperate single mother to the head of a business dynasty. The movie is based on Joy’s true story – the woman became a Home Shopping Network superstar after she invented the Miracle Mop.
That invention allowed for the founding of Ingenious Designs, LLC, a multi-million-dollar company that has released several more products primarily sold on television.

Jennifer Lawrence on the Joy of working with David O. Russell

Jennifer did an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The interview was posted at the site. Also, 2 new stills for “Joy” were released! Check them out in the gallery or at the end of this post.

Jennifer Lawrence was working on the final installment of the Hunger Games when she received a call at 4 a.m. from director David O. Russell. “He said, ‘Do you want to play the part of the woman who invented The Miracle Mop?’ ” Lawrence took the unusual hour and the call itself in stride. “I’ve gotten a lot of middle-of-the-night phone calls from David,” she says with a laugh. But Joy ended up evolving into something else. “From that seed he went off into David land and it developed and changed, and now it’s a completely different story,” she says. “Usually [a film’s focus] is about the fight on the way to success and the happy ending. David goes on to tell the struggle that comes after that, along with all the sacrifices that come with finally getting what you want.”

Russell, who’s last three films — The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Hustle — have all been nominated for Best Picture, was intrigued by the idea of doing a film larger in scope: an epic journey examing one woman’s life from age 10 to age 40, as she grows up, gets married, has children, and becomes an entrepreneur and matriarch. “It’s a woman’s soul over many decades of her life and how she changes,” he says.

The movie “centers on a socially awkward genetics professor who devises a science-based survey to find the perfect mate — only to see those theories splintered when he meets the spontaneous Rosie Jarman (Lawrence), who possesses the opposite qualities.”

It is based on the novel by Graeme Simsion.

Michael Fassbender really pulls the Big Lebowski live read together

The Dude abided in Montreal on Friday as a group of performers led by Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Patton Oswalt revived the Coen brothers’ cult classic in front of a packed crowd, many of whom had queued for up to 10 hours for a ticket.

This Live Read was the latest in the seasonal series organised by director Jason Reitman in which an ersatz group of unprepared performers read aloud a classic script. Reitman has run the shows, mostly in Los Angeles, since 2011; he wrangles the cast and chips in with stage directions. It was a homecoming of sorts for the director, who was born here, and who returns as part of the annual Just For Laughs festival. That event’s general spirit of joie de vivre was a good match for the title Reitman picked; the two and a half hours flew by.

Fassbender and Oswalt played the Dude and his friend Walter, roles made famous by Jeff Bridges and John Goodman, while Lawrence took on Julianne Moore’s original part of Maude Lebowski. The rest of the group was fleshed out by Fassbender and Lawrence’s X-Men peers, in town to shoot the latest instalment, as well as by members of Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley ensemble.

Jennifer Lawrence invents the Miracle Mop in first trailer for Joy

The Oscar winner reunites with Bradley Cooper and director David O Russell for an awards-tipped comedy drama about a single mother turned entrepreneur. While Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper’s third film together, the period drama Serena, might have landed with a damp thud, Lawrence is hoping that another film with her co-star might bring her more Joy. It also helps that the fact-based comedy drama is directed by David O Russell, who brought the two together for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, and puts Lawrence centre stage. The 24-year-old stars as Joy Mangeno, a single mother of three who becomes a successful businesswoman after inventing the Miracle Mop. Cooper stars as an executive at the Home Shopping Network who helps to give her product the boost it needs. The film also stars Robert De Niro, Isabella Rossellini and Virginia Madsen.

“It’s set [in] the 80s and 90s, but I’m going to take a different approach musically than I’ve ever taken before,” Russell told The Playlist last year. “I aspire to make an unexpected movie, both for myself and for Jennifer. It’s about a woman … what’s inside her.”

It’s already been touted as a major awards contender, and given Russell’s recent track record (his last three films have all been nominated for multiple Oscars), it’s a safe bet for inclusion.

Joy will be released on 25 December in the US and 1 January in the UK

Jennifer Lawrence stars in new Mockingjay Part 2 Promotional Shoot

New pics were released after the Comic Con promotional video. I added tons of new material, which is based on the video I shared yesterday. If more details about the pics hit the web, check back here for the latest news. Thanks to AliKat for sharing these!

In the clip Jennifer stands regally, looking like quite the warrior in a crimson red suit and bellowing brown cape atop a sculpture of the District 12 salute, which has now become the symbol of the rebellion. The inadvertent leader of the rebellion is seen staring off camera at first, but then as it begins to pull back – and the battle music intensifies – she slowly turns her head to face it.
As the camera pans back viewers can see that Katniss is standing atop a massive stone sculpture of the now infamous District 12 salute, which has become the symbol of the rebellion.
